Painting on the beach in colder weather holds a certain magical charm, and living in Lancashire provides ample opportunity to visit the wonderful sandy beaches on our coastline; from Ainsdale and Southport to St Annes and Fleetwood, these vast areas of exposed sand turn into a mesmerizing highway of earthy colours and intriguing abstract forms that I find fascinating to paint.
I visit these beaches regularly, and despite their seemingly barren appearance at first glance, they remain one of the most rewarding and stimulating subjects for my paintings.
With unpredictable weather, changing tides, and a constantly moving subject matter, painting is an exciting and dynamic adventure.
