Oil Painting & the Benefits

A CLASS FOR EVERYONE
Schedule & Modules
Our classes follow a school term schedule, running from September to July each year, comprising six modules each spanning six weeks. This structured learning environment with targeted objectives and flexibility empowers students to manage their time effectively, fostering continuous growth and mastery of a brush. To ensure personalised attention, our class size is limited to nine students.

The six week course was well structured, each week we received instruction which we applied using and building on what we has covered previously. Instruction was thorough and it was amazing how much we achieved each week, starting with three quick charcoal sketches to develop drawing skills, then sketching on the supplied grounded canvas board and painting a challenging still life. All class members received individual advice every week. At the end of each class we hung the work for a group appraisal of each of the works. The atmosphere was very friendly. I can wholeheartedly recommend Chris McLoughlin’s oil painting classes to both new and experienced (like myself) oil painters.
I attend Chris classes at Cedar Farm every Wednesday and enjoy them thoroughly. Chris is a great artist who can also share his love of painting and skills with his students. What makes him a special tutor is the way he helps each student in developing their individual style, always giving good personalised advice and encouragement. Classes are relaxed, with a very friendly atmosphere and always productive. Chris has also taken us out to paint en plein air which was great fun and a real discovery.
