Every Painting has a Story
Dreams was painted on location at the top of Parlick Fell, an AONB inside the Forest of Bowland. This particular view to the southeast overlooks Beacon Fell Country Park, and on a clear day or evening, you can see the Isle of Man on the horizon. It is quite the view either in summer or winter.
On this occasion, it was a very late and cold summer’s evening, when the sun had started to sink below the horizon, transforming the light over the valley below and turning it almost entirely yellow, whilst ushering in warm peach colours with hints of grey, leaving the sky with this amazing two-tone colour. I love painting here, but you have to time it right, as, like most fell tops, it is very exposed with no shelter from the elements.
